Kerry Peterson uses litigation, restructuring, and corporate counseling techniques to provide clients with business opportunities and issue resolution. Ms. Peterson’s litigation expertise includes complex contract disputes, fiduciary claims, and securities and regulatory matters. In the bankruptcy context, Ms. Peterson represents buyers of distressed assets and debtor-in-possession lenders, guides creditors from the claims process through plan confirmation, and serves as special litigation counsel to corporate Debtors and Trustees. She specializes in prosecuting and defending fiduciary, preference and fraudulent transfer actions. Ms. Peterson advises corporate directors regarding compliance with common law and regulatory duties, risk mitigation, and crisis management. She has extensive experience in conducting internal investigations for both large public and small private companies, including investigations regarding suspected securities compliance, ethics, and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations. Ms. Peterson was previously affiliated with Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where she worked on several landmark cases, including serving as Debtor’s litigation counsel in the Enron proceeding.
Ms. Peterson was born in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. Upon returning to the United States, Ms. Peterson graduated from Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Massachusetts. After attending the University of Colorado and obtaining her law degree from Tulane, she moved to Dallas in 1999.
